  • Herb Tasting

Our Herb Tasting service provides an interactive and educational experience that allows you and your guests to explore the world of herbs. We come to you and let you taste six different herbal teas while learning about the six main tastes in herbalism; sweet, bitter, sour, pungent, salty, and astringent. We also provide a handout about what we cover during the tasting, so you can continue to learn about herbs at your own pace. Locations Your location; must be within a 40-mile radius of Main & Maybank on Johns Island. To check if you are within the radius, visit https://www.calcmaps.com/map-radius/ Max group size Limited to 8 people. Min Age of Guests This workshop is geared toward people 13 years of age and older. If you would like this workshop for a younger group, please contact me. Items Provided All materials needed to create and taste six herbal teas (teas, cups, rinse dish, water, etc.), along with a handout reviewing what was covered in this workshop. Need Available at the Location An area large enough for you and your guests to gather for the tasting that includes a table and access to an outlet. Access to a restroom would be preferred. Each Guest Will Need Notebook, Pen, or Pencil Level Of Activity and Skill Needed Designed for beginning learners. No prior herbal or plant experience is needed, so you can jump right in! This workshop is an hour and a half long, and most of that time is spent sitting, tasting tea, and discussing our thoughts. What To Expect When I arrive, you will show me the area we will be using for the workshop. I will need this area ready for my arrival so I can set up the electric kettle immediately. A dining table, if big enough for your group, close to an outlet would be perfect. It will take the kettle a few minutes to heat the water, once it is hot, we can begin the workshop. I will introduce myself, distribute the handouts, pour the water over the herbs, and tell you what herbs we will be sampling today. Then I will ask each of the guests, you included, to introduce themselves. From there everyone will get a disposable cup. For each herb, we will taste a sample of the tea, discuss it, finish our portion, or pour it out into the provided bowl, rinse our cups (water and bowl provided), and move to the next herb. When we have finished all six herbs/tastes, we will dispose of our disposable items in the provided trash bag and clean up the area.
